Job Summary:

The Anesthesia Technician provides essential support within surgical services, assisting anesthesia providers by preparing and maintaining anesthesia equipment and supplies. This role involves rotating between units to ensure readiness for anesthesia procedures, maintaining equipment functionality, and supporting patient safety. The technician collaborates closely with the surgical and anesthesia teams, adhering to strict protocols and schedules, including on-call duties during nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, maintain, and troubleshoot anesthesia equipment and supplies for surgical procedures.
• Assist anesthesia providers in setting up and breaking down anesthesia workstations.
• Ensure all anesthesia-related equipment is clean, sterilized, and in proper working order.
• Rotate between various units as required to support anesthesia services.
• Respond promptly to on-call requests and provide support during anesthesia emergencies.
• Maintain accurate documentation and inventory of anesthesia supplies and equipment.
• Collaborate with surgical, nursing, and anesthesia teams to facilitate efficient patient care.
• Adhere to hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control protocols.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Experience or training in anesthesia technology or surgical services support.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Basic understanding of anesthesia equipment and operating room protocols.
• Willingness and ability to rotate between units as assigned.
• Ability to respond to on-call duties including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Certification as an Anesthesia Technician or related credential.
• Experience working in a short-term acute care or teaching hospital environment.
• Familiarity with Epic charting system.

Special Considerations:

• On-call responsibilities required during nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
• No permanent night shifts; shifts rotate between early morning and afternoon hours.
• 1:1 staffing ratios expected during assignments.
• Must be able to float between different units as needed.
• Compliance with hospital infection control and safety protocols is mandatory.

Scheduling:

• Shift rotations include early morning (5am-6am), mid-morning (11am), and afternoon (3pm) shifts.
• On-call coverage overnight, weekends, and holidays on a rotating schedule.
• Block scheduling is required.
• 48-hour shifts are not approved.
