Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced HR Manager for a contract/temporary opportunity in San Jose, CA. This interim HR leadership role will provide continuity, guidance, and hands-on support while the Director of Human Resources is on leave.
The HR Manager will help keep daily HR operations compliant, responsive, and aligned with business needs. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily HR operations, programs, policies, and procedures during the Director of Human Resources’ leave.
- Provide HR guidance to managers and employees on employee relations, performance concerns, workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, terminations, and general HR matters.
- Manage leaves of absence, reasonable accommodation requests, interactive process documentation, and related compliance requirements.
- Support recruitment and employment activities, including job descriptions, postings, compensation review, offer letters, onboarding, promotions, offboarding, and background check matters.
- Coordinate and support the annual performance review process, including review cycles, tracking, manager support, employee support, and timely completion.
- Mentor and support the HR Coordinator while maintaining employee records, personnel files, HR communications, and confidential documentation.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay range: $50 to $65 per hour.
- Job type: Contract/Temporary.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Oversee interim HR operations and provide hands-on leadership during a temporary HR coverage period.
- Manage employee relations, leaves of absence, accommodations, performance management, and compliance-related HR matters.
- Support recruiting, onboarding, HR documentation, personnel records, and performance review administration.
- Partner with managers, employees, leadership, and HR staff to maintain effective HR service delivery.
- Management-level human resources experience with broad generalist knowledge.
- Strong understanding of employee relations, workplace investigations, disciplinary processes, and termination support.
- Experience managing leaves of absence, accommodations, and the interactive process.
- Ability to support recruitment, onboarding, compensation review, offer letters, promotions, offboarding, and background check matters.
- Strong knowledge of HR compliance practices, confidentiality standards, and employee documentation requirements.
- Excellent communication, judgment, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to mentor HR support staff and partner effectively with managers and leadership.
- Highly organized, responsive, and comfortable balancing multiple HR priorities in a contract/temporary role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior interim HR management or HR leadership coverage experience.
- Experience supporting HR operations in a Computer/IT Services or technology-focused environment.
- Familiarity with California employment practices and workplace compliance expectations.
- Experience coordinating annual performance review cycles and manager communication.
